Who are we?

We work with people experiencing challenges with their mental health, and with communities who want to create a greater sense of connection, ownership and wellbeing in the places they live.

We’re driven by the belief that a strengths-based approach is the foundation to sustainable wellbeing for everyone. We do not believe that people or communities are “broken” or in need of fixing. We take an approach to mental health and emotional distress that understands how our lived experiences can have an impact on our wellbeing, and we see the mental health, and wider health, social care and public sector systems as no longer fit for purpose. Based on illness and deficit models, these systems deny people the hope and agency to heal.

As part of a growing social movement, we’re working towards a fundamental shift in the way that public services are provided, so that they support people towards sustainable wellbeing and the life of their choice.

How many employees do we have?

We have over 300 employees, and we’re still growing. We run a wide range of exciting projects in different areas, and our teams work with people to create a genuine positive impact on individuals and their wider communities.

Our projects

Crisis prevention and home

We work with people to prevent housing crises and homelessness in a range of settings across South Wales.

We know that homelessness services don’t always work for everyone and can sometimes be difficult to navigate. We work closely with local authorities’ homelessness departments, providing supported housing, working with people experiencing tenancy difficulties, and securing accommodation when people leave hospital.

Housing crises are often avoidable when people’s needs are heard, understood and acted on.

Life, work and wellbeing

We work with people to identify and harness their skills, connect with peers and to feel a valued part of their community.

Our skills and employment projects work with people to develop their skills and confidence through training, volunteering opportunities and support at work.

At Effro, our dementia project, we support people living with dementia to lead fulfilling lives based on experiences that awaken their senses, and activities that spark real joy. Find out more at effro.org

Our projects for young people includes 4YP (platfform4yp.org), Project Me, State of Mind, and support for parents, guardians and families. We believe that all young people have innate strengths, and connecting with these strengths is where our work starts.

Having connections, aspirations, and a sense of purpose is essential to wellbeing. Our projects work with people to achieve this, and provide support networks wherever needed.
